Hourly Pay: $18.00/hour 

Overview: 
The Communications Intern will support our project teams with managing various communications and project-related efforts. This includes diverse work for clientele in the fields of transportation, engineering and public affairs. The Intern works to complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner, including supporting the preparation of documents and presentations, internal and external communications, assistance with the execution of various reports, workshops and other applicable items. This position will support the team with public meeting preparation, so having reliable personal transportation is key. 

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Support project coordination from inception to execution.  
  • Perform research on subject matter relating to project & client work. 
  • Communicate with team members to execute project deliverables. 
  • Develop and coordinate initial correspondence and updates to project deliverables and coordinate with manager on approvals. 
  • Support the facilitation of, and occasional attendance at, virtual and in person meetings (both internally and externally) by coordinating communications & materials with the internal team as well as with external partners.  
  • Support the proofing and editing of a wide range of deliverables, including technical reports and manuals, presentations, email and meeting correspondence and other deliverables deemed appropriate for the project.  
  • Perform office management support duties, as needed.  

Position Qualifications:  

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, marketing, business or related field.
  • Ability to travel within the Chicagoland area for client events, as needed.
  • A personal vehicle is required for success in this position.  
  • Ability to support staff with in-person and virtual meetings (both internally and with clients).  
  • Attention to detail and ability to keep tasks on schedule.  
  • Ability to research, understand and communicate technical issues.  
  • Strong multi-tasking skills. 
  • Strong drafting and editing skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and familiarity with Adobe Acrobat.
