Job Summary
Strawser Construction has an opening for an energetic individual looking to complete a Construction Management Internship for the summer of 2025. We are looking for a highly skilled individual that will be a great asset to our team. Strawser is part of a global construction leader, Colas, and is a great place to build a career!
As an intern, you will perform a variety of tasks, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members. You will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.
Through our internship, we hope to offer a rewarding experience for the candidate, which will help add real world experience to their resume, as well as provide a fresh outlook and feedback on our current practices and processes. To be a strong candidate for an internship, you should have an understanding of construction principles and concepts. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, eager to learn, and have a positive attitude.
Main Responsibilities
- Shadowing the foreperson as they perform their duties
- Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
- Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about operations
- Work alongside laborers to understand the processes
- General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving including mixing, spreading materials and cleaning roadway surfaces as needed
- May be required to safely maintain traffic control including flagging duties
- Work in a team-oriented environment
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the crew
- Actively participate in the safety culture
- Wear proper safety PPE anytime on the job
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be actively working towards a degree in Construction Management
- 60-75% travel required
- Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel with overnight stays
- Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Motivation and the strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible
- A valid Driver's license, and a clean driving record
