GIS Summer Internship

Responsible for the setup, installation and maintenance of PC's according to the guidelines of the City's Information Systems Division.

• Greet customers and answer phones
• Assist with department inventory
• Assist staff in research and analysis for technological issues.
• Assist staff in program application implementation.
• Assist in programming to develop client and web applications.
• Provide end-user support for PCs and peripheral equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues with equipment (i.e. printers, computers and servers) and software applications.
• Research technological issues for staff in order to come up with solutions.
• Provide clear and concise documentation related to assignments.
• Performs related duties as required.

Ability to sit and move about an office department or building. Ability to kneel, crawl, climb and twist to install and maintain equipment. Must be able to lift and move PC's and related equipment.

The intern must have awareness of PC hardware components, desktop OS software, and application software. Preference to students enrolled in higher education computer science courses including associate's degree courses.

He or she must show an awareness of current and emerging trends and have an interest in technology as a whole.

The internship is a 12 week summer program. The intern must be able to communicate effectively with users, internal staff and management. He or she must be able to work in dependently or as part of a team.
