Objective: The Information Systems Intern assists the Help Desk and troubleshoots computer problems in an exemplary manner according to the company quality policies.
Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's program in Information Technology (or a related field)
- Ability to drive projects to completion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)
- Ability and desire to work in a team-based environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- An outstanding work record, including attendance
Outstanding candidates will possess the following Desired Requirements:
- Completed coursework in Information Technology
- Previous experience configuring hardware and software within a corporate computing environment
Essential Functions:
Help Desk Service:
- Respond to all end-user support requests via helpdesk call line, walk ups and on line submission, including troubleshooting of all in-house software and hardware for all company sites.
- Log all incoming calls & user requests into help desk software application and update existing action items as priorities change within the team.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance to all technology within the Grand Rapids facilities.
- Provide level 1 computer support via proxy and on-site service to all locations as necessary.
- Develop and maintain Asset Management tracking
- Build and rebuild computers including the installation of software packages for company deployment.
- Assist with installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware, including cabling, printers, conference room computers, video equipment, scanners, and two-way radios.
- Perform data analysis, metric tracking and project management, as needed.
Computer Troubleshooting:
- Build and rebuild computers, as needed. Assist with purchase and receipt of Information Technology equipment. Rebuild, reuse and then recycle ALL materials used in the Information Technology realm. Maintain backup hardware inventory.
- Install and set up system software on machines. This may include supports such as domains, email, Outlook, web access, virus scan, anti-Malware, time & attendance, RIS, WDS, Cisco IP, Citrix servers, file restoration, VLans.
- Assist with installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware, including cabling, printers, conference room computers, video equipment, scanners, and two-way radios.
- Perform data analysis, as needed.
Organization:
- Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area and 5S zone.
- Develop and maintain work instructions for IT Knowledge Base.
- Prepare and deliver final presentation to the leadership team at the end of Internship with cost savings and recommendations.
- Complete projects within agreed time period. Provide regular updates to the Information Technology Manager regarding project, Help Desk, and computer troubleshooting progress.
Teamwork:
- Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
- Organize and maintain personal work area (based on audit score).
- Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management.
