Position Summary
The International Risk Manager will monitor world events; evaluate international risks and risk mitigation; act in emergency response for student and faculty travel; develop policies and guidelines for international travel; track and report international incidents; maintain international relationships for better risk management; evaluate appropriateness of international insurance policies; act in a risk oversight position for all international student travel; and chair the International Travel Oversight Committee. The position represents the Chief Risk Officer on University committees that involve international risk management and takes the lead in the annual insurance renewals of the University’s international insurance policies. The International Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing departmentally initiated international activities; working with faculty on the development and implementation of approximately 10-20 department-managed group programs serving approximately 100-200 students going to higher risk destinations, plus the oversight of approximately 300 additional students traveling on departmental programs to lower risk destinations. To serve these functions, this position will also be advising and assisting student registration and orientations; conducting outreach and training to professional staff; collaborating on education abroad curriculum integration initiatives; and developing relationships with faculty, departments and administrative support units. This is a full-time administrative professional position reporting to the Associate Director of Education Abroad and the University Chief Risk Officer.
