Description

The American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF) seeks an energetic, analytical and detail-oriented Development Intern who is passionate about mental health and eager to gain real world experience working for a non-profit organization. The Development Intern will support day-to-day activities and projects for the APAF. Responsibilities will include campaign strategy and development for member donors; review and make recommendations with regard to donor experience and recognition. In support of the Development partnership strategy, research corporate 10Ks, social media and corporate social responsibility platforms and make recommendations against corporate prospect priorities; research and document major Foundation grant cycles. 

The Development Intern will work independently and with the APAF Development team to fulfill organizational goals and initiatives related to APAF programming and development.  

Qualifications:  

  • Must be enrolled in college or graduate school.  

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.  

  • Be a self-starter willing to research topics, synthesize information and make recommendations. 

  • Ability to multitask and produce high-quality work by deadline.  

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Word &  PowerPoint) and Salesforce. 

  • Previous internship or related experience in development helpful 

  • Interest in development for mental health issues  

Applicants must be willing to commit to 15 hours per week (in the office 2 day pers week Tuesday and one other day) for the 7-week internship period (July 5 - August 23, 2023).
