Position Summary

The Okoboji Store Bar & Kitchen is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Food and Beverage Management Intern. This internship provides hands-on experience in the fast-paced hospitality industry, focusing on the operational and managerial aspects of a leading lakeside restaurant and bar. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food and beverage service, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to creating memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities will be expected for this position:

  • Operational Support: Assist in the daily operations of the restaurant, including overseeing front-of-house and back-of-house activities.
  • Staff Collaboration: Work closely with servers, bartenders, chefs, and management to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
  • Inventory Management: Help track and manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and monitoring food and beverage costs.
  • Compliance: Learn and enforce health, safety, and sanitation regulations to ensure compliance with local and state laws.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing daily sales reports, tracking key performance metrics, and suggesting operational improvements.

Requirements 

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Culinary Arts or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for the food and beverage industry and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service is a plus but not required.
