Ready to launch your journey in the sports industry? The Bloomington Bison are looking for outgoing, energetic, and motivated local college students for our 2025-26 Game Operations internship program. We aim to provide our interns with rich sports industry experience and help to prepare them for their future opportunities. Interns are expected to take away valuable experience and a glimpse into the world of working in professional sports. This is also a very hands-on internship, you will play an important role for every home game. Please read through the description thoroughly and apply if it sounds like the right fit for you.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Execute pre-game set up and tear down
- Help with promoting Bison games on-campus with promotional materials
- Facilitate and assist all in-game promotions during timeouts, intermissions, and during play
- Work as a team with 4-5 other interns to execute in-game activations
- Assist our team mascot with in-game activities, appearances, and time management
- Assist and inform fans taking part in timeout and intermission activities
- Execute post-game set up and tear down when needed
- Create in-game graphics during play using Adobe Photoshop that will display during the game
- Assist with game promotion planning, research, and execution
- General organization of storage areas
- Assist Sponsorship and Ticketing department with various projects when needed
- Plan and attend community events
- Support front office team through various office administrative tasks
Skills and Requirements
- Must be able to work all 36 home games
- Must be able to help with office hours during non-game days when available
- Being able to stay on until season end in April is preferred
- Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be comfortable with physical labor
- Must be able to work effectively with little to no supervision
- Must be able to troubleshoot in response to challenges
- Must have excellent communication skills and act as a team ambassador with every interaction
- Must have excellent strong personal organizational skills
- Must wear team-provided attire
- Strong interest with working in the sports industry
- College credit is available if needed
*Please note: Interns are paid $50 for game day shifts, though office hours and community events are unpaid. This is not a remote opportunity, must be local to the Bloomington-Normal area during the season.
