 Larry H. Miller Senior Health (a portfolio company to the Larry H. Miller Company) is offering a 4-month internship with an opportunity for full-time employment for a motivated and dependable Help Desk IT Intern role that provides a career growth opportunity. Supported products and services include setup, deployment, and maintenance of various desktop/laptop hardware and software, online software, and peripheral devices including printers, copiers, scanners, phones, and handheld devices. The technician will be responsible for maintaining inventory, staging and imaging computers and tablets, patching systems, and other various duties.  You will work closely with your peers and be part of a fantastic team. 


Internship Details

  • 4 months projected duration.
  • $19 per hour.
  • Full-time (40hrs per week)
  • Possible opportunity for an offer of full-time employment depending on performance during internship and business needs at that time.
  • This is an in-office position.

Responsibilities and Duties

  •  Desktop maintenance throughout the lifecycle of equipment (deploy, inventory, manage, protect, and dispose)
  • Manage service desk tickets and meet the SLAs defined by the business
  • Communicate with computer users on the status of issues and understand the needs they have in relation to technology.
  • Install computer images in compliance with company policy
  • Train staff in proper procedures and appropriate use of systems, software, and hardware to ensure conformity, stability, and simplicity.
  • Consolidate and simplify any systems and processes where it makes business sense and where efficiencies can be gained.
  • Ability to maintain discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information including patient, resident, employee, and company data.

  • All other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  •  Highly organized to keep help desk tickets up to date and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Experience in hardware, software, and network troubleshooting, or equivalent training and/or education are necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Individuals should be able to gauge the customer's technical ability and communicate with them in appropriate technical or non-technical language in a non-condescending manner.
  • Ability to maintain composure and manage stress in the workplace. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while setting an example based on the code of conduct and mission, vision, and values of the company. 
  • Ability to learn and support new and fast-changing technologies.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of standard office automation products.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent training preferred.
  • Proficiency with Windows 11, MAC and IOS devices preferred.
  • Prior experience with ticketing systems and help desk tools preferred.
  • Certifications in relevant IT products and technologies (e.g. Network +, Server+ and Security+) preferred.

  • This position requires in-office work due to the need to work in person with employees and the location of equipment.  
  • This includes off-site visits to facilities and agencies as requested by management. 
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and appropriate transportation to commute as needed to offsite locations. 
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer. The role may require occasional movement between different locations within the office or facility. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, such as servers, network devices, and other hardware or equipment. 
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication, including phone conversations and in-person discussions, in a standard office or nursing facility environment.  
  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager.
  • This position requires occasional on-call support or after-hours work for critical issues or maintenance as well as ensuring all facilities in other time zones have appropriate technical support at all times.  
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including overtime, with minimal notice.
  • The job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
