Description

The Regulatory Intern will have the opportunity to enhance several skills in supporting the Regulatory Department including accurate data entry, enhanced proofreading skills, and basic knowledge of food labeling. This position will support the Regulatory team in reviewing, updating and electronic organization. Responsibilities will also involve basic computer work, such as downloading PDF files, generating reports, emailing suppliers and data entry.

 

Essential Functions

  • File and organize documents electronically and physically
  • Proofreading specifications and packaging electronically and physically
  • Prepare supplier documentation packets for review
  • Utilize Genesis Software to ensure compliance and accuracy of specifications between the system and supplier documentation
  • Save documents from the Genesis Program to the company drive. Assess specifications, packaging, and labeling proofs for accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Evaluate supplier nutrition and composition information for completeness and adherence to regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements concerning labels and specifications

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working within an office environment. There will be minimal exposure to hazards or loud noises

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and type. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time seasonal position of 20-30 hours a week. Schedule is subject to change with or without notice. The hours will be flexible to meet department needs.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in Food Science, Business Administration or similar Associate or Bachelor degree program
  • Program knowledge desired: Microsoft Office Programs
  • Proficient understanding of grammar – proofreading skills
  • Self-motivated and works well with others in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
