Program:  Water Resource Management – Division of Water Supply & Geoscience – Bureau of Water System Engineering
 
Program Description: The WRM Program establishes water quality and drinking water standards, monitors the waters of the State to ensure surface and groundwater standards are met, helps ensure delivery of water that meets drinking water standards, and regulates discharges of wastewater and storm water to surface and ground water. The WRM Program also regulates and manages the diversion of water from surface and groundwaters to ensure protection of the resource, and provides low cost financial assistance for finance capital improvements to water infrastructure. The Program works to ensure adequate, reliable, sustainable supplies for current and future needs, uses, and the environment.

Project Description: The required tasks represent a great many hours and do not require expertise beyond a basic understanding of PEGA’s GIS functions and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A brief review of PEGA revealed that address coordinates were not entered for PI’s when PEGA first launched, and there are thousands of records to review and correct. WPS and IPM inspectors require a comprehensive list of program interests for them to work from to facilitate inspections, which makes creating a database of New Jersey farms and schools imperative.  
 
Specific to the Position: The SPARK intern would be tasked with various projects including assisting staff with data investigation and input for licensing, products, and permits as it relates to state regulations and compliance. The intern will also be required to review Pesticide Operator license applications; manually enter WPS training data for Pesticide Handlers and cross-referencing entries with WPS inspection history; create and distribute WPS Train-the-Trainer certificates; design and populate a spreadsheet for IPM inspections that includes CEHA investigations; create a database of IPM Coordinators; research farms listed with the department of labor, department of agriculture, and migrate clinics to create a comprehensive farm list as well as identifying inspections done at these sites by other programs such as, water allocation, water supply, and solid waste. Additional tasks include creating an updated WPS inspection package, processing mail, and stuffing envelopes.
 
License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
